ABC News: ‘October Surprise’ Could Decide Election

Close polling figures increase likelihood of an unexpected twist

October 1, 2012

ABC News has released a story suggesting that an “October surprise” will impact next month’s presidential election, with an incident involving Iran likely to decide the winner.
In an article entitled Obama Vs. Romney: Will October Bring a Political Surprise?, ABC’s Russell Goldman speculates that an Iranian attack on American interests could swing the election one way or the other, even suggesting that Mitt Romney may have “cut a deal” with Iran to undermine Obama.

“Was something to occur in the days before the election, it’s impossible to know how it might affect the voting,” he writes.

The fact that polls show Romney and Obama are so closely tied, “increases the likelihood that an unexpected event can shape the polls,” writes Goldman, pointing to the Iranian hostage crisis on the eve of the 1980 election which helped Ronald Reagan defeat Jimmy Carter.

“You can term any unexpected event in late October or early November an ‘October surprise,’” said Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia. “The surprising thing is that we’re surprised by it every four years.”

As we covered at the time, the 2004 appearance of Osama Bin Laden in a videotaped message a few days before the presidential election in which he all but urged people to vote for Senator John Kerry was later acknowledged by both George W. Bush and John Kerry as the deciding factor behind Bush’s victory in that year’s closely fought election contest.

Bin Laden’s intervention was so controversial and crucial that veteran newscaster Walter Kronkite told Larry King at the time that he thought the whole episode was a “set-up” orchestrated by Karl Rove.

Geopolitical analysts have speculated that the recent uproar over the anti-Muhammad film is a pre-cursor to an October surprise that will be exploited by neo-conservatives to “Carterize” President Obama and ensure Mitt Romney, a closer ally with Israel’s Bibi Netanyahu, is installed in his place.

It has even been suggested that Barack Obama may have an October surprise of his own ready and waiting, taking a cue from Bush’s 2004 success by preparing to release long-awaited photos showing the dead corpse of Osama Bin Laden.

In the days following the announcement that Bin Laden had been killed, Obama enjoyed a significant bounce in his approval ratings - jumping 9 percentage points almost overnight.

Given the amount of flak Obama has been receiving over his foreign policy failure in the aftermath of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, nothing is outside the realms of possibility.

Pakistan is Revolutionizing

The emerging leader of Pakistan, Imran khan has demonstrated his political power on 30, October 2011 by gathering more than 200 thousand people in the historical venue Minar-e-Pakistan" in the second largest city of Pakistan, Lahore. It is to remember that it is the same place where, in the leadership of the founder of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Muslim League presented the historical resolution "Lahore Resolution March 23, 1940" which was later termed as Pakistan Resolution in which Muslims demanded autonomy in British India, which resulted in a separate Muslim state in 1947.

Imran Khan (PTI): Upcoming Revolution in Pakistan

Imran warns of civil disobedience if assets not declared

Before the discussion of upcoming revolution in Pakistan, I would like to draw your attention towards some basic problems that this country has been facing, as this will make you understand the situation with more clarity.

Pakistan is surrounded by many problems today. Some of the notable problematic issues include lack of honest leadership, corruption at large scale, shortage of electricity, decline of per-capita income, Inflation in prices and one of the most important obstacle towards the development and prosperity of the country is Terrorism which has aggravated the situation from bad to worse. People of Pakistan believe that their corrupt and incompitent leadership is the actual cause of this aggravation in situation, as after the departure of  Dictator Musharraf from the Government the people have not experienced any improvement in their lives, rather they have been facing immense decline in their purchasing power, sense of security, justice, and provision of other rights of the citizens by the Government.

Imran Khan has always been contributing his efforts of worth appreciation for his nation whether it's in the form of victory in year 1992 ODI Cricket World Cup, Opening of  Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital that has saved thousands of lives of people, not only from Pakistan but also of people comming from abroad for the treatment of Cancer Disease. He openned a university named NAMAL to make higher education easily attainable by students at lower cost. Imran also initiated Flood Relief Campaign in Pakistan at a very large scale and in absolutely organized manner, and he earned tremendous feedback by people from all over the world in the form of donations of Billions of Rupees.

Imran Khan joined politics with very clear statement that change will come and every citizen will have justice at his doorstep. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has held a revolutionary rally today 30th of Oct, 2011 at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore. People exhibited their trust on Imran Khan in a great fashion. Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan addressing tens of thousands of supporters at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday warned that his party would spearhead a civil disobedience campaign and seize all the cities if the government failed to have politicians declare their assets.

In his address to the cheering crowd that turned up in tens of thousands at ‘Pakistan Bachao’ call of TI Chief Imran Khan here at Minar-e-Pakistan, the cricketer turned politician also warned that he would go to the Supreme Court as well as the Election Commission of Pakistan if the politicians in the government and opposition failed to declare their assets as required under the Pakistan law.

He said Tehreek-e-Insaf would set up a cell to investigate and identify politicians who declare assets and those who do not.

Starting his speech following the National Anthem, Imran Khan gave his party’s programme in detail which, he said, aimed at making Pakistan a peaceful and independent country where investment would be attracted from across the world. “We will make Pakistan a place where people come from other countries to seek jobs.”

Talking of change, he said: “ Today we are beginning a new Pakistan from Minar-e-Pakistan, the place from where founder of the Nation Quad-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah began his movement”.

Spelling out his party’s manifesto in connection with Pakistan’s relations with the US, the Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief said ‘we will make friends with you (US) but not be your slave; we will help you (US) withdraw from Afghanistan but won’t launch any military operation (for you).’

He questioned that if US, being the super power, could not win the war through military means how could Pakistan?

“We will strengthen ties with China,” he said, adding, he was leaving for China on its government’s invitation tonight.

He said Pakistan was not a poor country; ‘it is very rich in natural resources’. Pakistan has 180 billion tonnes of coal reserves which means we can export electricity to the world, he added.

Imran Khan said Pakistan never needed to beg before others. “Pakistan will never beg again; Imran Khan will die but won’t beg,” he vowed amid vociferous cheers of the charged crowd.

Coming down hard on President Asif Ali Zardari, Imran Khan questioned how could Asif Zardari provide bread, cloth and shelter when under his rule 1600 people committed suicide.

He also claimed that ‘Asif Zardari’ wrote a letter to the US requesting it to please save him from the army because he was not able to serve them well with army interefernce.

He regretted that Mian (Nawaz Sharif) sahib should have done better than coming up with a show of ‘Patwaris’ the other day in Lahore.

Imran Khan said Pakistan was suffering a loss of Rs3000 billions per year mainly due to rampant corruption.

He said his party also aimed to bring about police reforms in the country to improve the working of this institution. “We will depoliticize police and then get the SHO elected like the way it is done in America,” he added.

He said condition of the villages will be improved and pledged to bring an end to military operation and target killings in Balochistan, which, he termed as a province rich in natural resources.. “We will make Balochis our brothers,” he added.

Criticising Pakistan Muslim League-N Nawaz Sharif, he said: “How can you fight with Zardari when you can’t even fight with mosquitoes?”
Pointing to the crowd, he said, Asif Zardar and Nawaz Sharif cannot stop this flood now. “This is not just a flood it is a Tsunami and anyone who tries to stand before it will be washed away.”

Where are Moammar Gadhafi's billions?

Everybody knows Gadhafi siphoned off much of Libya's oil wealth. But many don't realize just how massive his fortune really was.

The hunt for Moammar Gadhafi may be over, but the hunt for his hidden riches is still underway. During Gadhafi's 42 years in power, the late Libyan leader diverted a "staggering" fortune from the oil-rich country's wealth to his personal accounts, along with those of his family and members of his tribe. Where did all the money go? Here, a brief guide:

How much money did Gadhafi have?
A startling amount. While Gadhafi was still clinging to power, he and his family were believed to have stashed between $33 billion and $60 billion around the world. But now that the trails of his assets — everything from sprawling estates in New Jersey, London, and Spain, to a 2 percent stake in Fiat and piles of gold bullion in Libya — are really being scrutinized, the estimates have ballooned to more than $200 billion. That would have made Gadhafi the richest man in the world, by far, with as much wealth as Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Carlos Slim combined. "No one truly appreciated the scope of it," said one person who has examined documents involved in the asset search, as quoted in the Los Angeles Times.
Where did he get all that money?
Oil, for starters. For four decades, Gadhafi enjoyed uncontested control over Libya's oil reserves — the largest in Africa. Libya is the 12th largest oil exporter in the world. Gadhafi also siphoned off as much as he wanted from whatever the Libyan state collected through foreign investments and aid. Unlike other oil-rich leaders, such as Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, Gadhafi didn't spend much on schools, hospitals, and other infrastructure. Nor did he use the wealth to develop other industries to diversify Libya's economy. He used some of the money to buy support from other African leaders, and the rest he essentially put into his own pocket.

What did he do with such unfathomable riches?
Personally, not much. Gadhafi lived relatively modestly, and tried to stay close to his nomadic roots by living in tents — even, when possible, during state visits abroad. Gadhafi's kids, however, were a different story, says Robert Powell of the Economist Intelligence Unit. "His children generally went a little bit off the rails and really enjoyed the high life," says Powell, as quoted by ABC News. Unlike dad, they bought big private yachts, planes, and real estate throughout Europe.
Can Libya's new government get the money back?
Possibly, but it won't be easy. The country's National Transitional Council has to find the hidden riches first. A good chunk of it is stashed in investments spread out in just about every major country in the world. Unraveling the tangled web of partial ownership and shadowy intermediaries, says former State Department official Jonathan Winer, as quoted at IBN Live, then deciding what goes to Libya's government and what goes to Gadhafi's victims, will be "an unholy mess to sort out."

PAKISTAN: MQM - DRUGS & TERRORISM IN KARACHI

20 Apr, 2009 Dr Shahid Qureshi

"If you can’t baffle them with brilliance, dazzle them with bullshit!"
said probably Lord Nelson, this is exactly what Altaf Hussain
outsourced in London ‘telephone based’ leader of MQM and Rehman Malik
doing? Altaf Hussain claimed his supporters in Karachi increased by 10
million in just two years because he claimed to have 20 million
supporters in an interview with Edgware Times in November 1998. But in
2001 MQM claimed to have 30 million supporters when MQM send a fax to
Reuters on 22 September 2001. "(MQM leader) Altaf Hussain has offered
the unconditional support of over 30 million MQM supporters to the
U.S. president and the international community," its London-based
international secretariat said in a statement faxed to Reuters.
September 22, 2001.

Altaf Hussain’s MQM has caused more economic and human losses to
Pakistan by strikes and terrorist activities then wars with India?
There are reports that MQM has issued thousands of arms licences to
its workers and sympathisers in Karachi and some of the licences might
have been issued from other provinces. According to a source, ‘Altaf
group is planning and preparing for armed fight with other groups in
Karachi especially on 12th May 2009’. There might be a plan to divide
Karachi on ethnic zones as Rehman Malik mentioned in Dera Ismail Khan?
The alleged transfer of money from Karachi to London, Germany, Dubai,
South Africa, Canada, and United States is alarming. There reports of
increase in the arms sale in Karachi seem serious but what are the
authorities doing?

Ms Bhutto, “condemned the killings of police officers and said, my
thoughts are with families of those killed in the line of duty. She
demanded that (Musharraf) government should brought killer/ terrorists
to justice and protects the men doing their job and following orders”.
Some people say that MQM is more dangerous then any terrorist
organisation’.

Elements close to MQM were also allegedly involved in the terrorism,
arson, and killings in December 2007, after the tragic death of
Benzair Bhutto. Many analysts believe that it was a dry run by the
foreign sponsored elements to separate Karachi from the rest of the
country. The second dry run was done by Rehman Malik interior minister
and gatekeeper of ‘Zardari Empire’, with ‘container blockade’ on 16th
March 2009 when he closed down inter-province borders with containers.
So what is Altaf Hussain up to now that is a crucial question to
political and security leadership to think about. His alleged close
links with the Indian agency and also acting like a mercenary force
getting orders from foreign masters.

After September 11, the United States identified even more with the
MQM as it was the only party in Pakistan that widely mourned the
attacks on the US, openly condemned the Taliban and al-Qaeda, and
launched a powerful campaign in support of the US attack on
Afghanistan. Latterly, the MQM has been the only party to support the
military's intervention in the tribal areas.

Asia Times Online reported, ‘sources say that, ‘only US diplomatic
intervention stopped Musharraf from taking strong action against the
MQM after he received the report on the recent unrest in which the MQM
was implicated. Washington indeed has a powerful southern ally in
Pakistan’.

It is time for the government of Pakistan to approach its friends and
allies to have a clear cut answers about the real Agenda in Pakistan?
Crimes of Altaf Hussain and his party MQM are so heinous that he
couldn’t dare going back to Karachi even the whole period of Musharraf
and now Zardari rule?

The government of Pakistan says it will let the current legal
proceedings take their course against Altaf Hussein, the leader of the
MQM. The Minister of Information, Mushahid Hussein, said the
government had not so far sought his extradition from Britain on
November 8, 1998.The minister was responding to reports in a British
Sunday newspaper that Pakistan was seeking his return to face trial.
Altaf Hussein faces charges of terrorism, abduction, and torture in
Pakistan.

I asked late Benzair Bhutto at dinner in London few years ago to
comment on the targeted killings on reportedly more then 670 police
officers in Karachi. Most of them killed had taken part in the Karachi
Operation conducted by the PPP government. Ms Bhutto, “condemned the
killings of police officers and said, my thoughts are with families of
those killed in the line of duty. She demanded that (Musharraf)
government should brought killer/ terrorists to justice and protects
the men doing their job and following orders”. Some people say that
MQM is more dangerous then any terrorist organisation’.

While talking to Edgware Times a local paper Altaf Hussain explained
his plight: "It is never easy running a movement. One has to sacrifice
many things -- Jesus Christ sacrificed for his people." He is
receiving full support of Qadiyani leader, their International
Secretariat, and network?

Until November 1998 Government of Pakistan was reportedly seeking
extradition of Altaf Hussain who was said to be wanted in 50 murders
and 150 cases of kidnapping and arson. Altaf Hussain, a trained
pharmacist who has been living in England since 1992. ‘If extradited
to Pakistan he will be killed’, said Altaf Hussain in an interview
with a newspaper in 1998. "It is my wish that they take me to trial in
a British court," said Mr Hussain. "Then I will tell people nationally
and internationally what has been happening in Pakistan."

MQM’s deputy chief organiser of district Thattat and his wife were
arrested by the police for trafficking 120 kilos of A class drugs
according to a press report on 16th May 2004. Mohamed Ibrahim and his
wife Ayesha Soho who is also member of district government were coming
from Bolan area of Baluchistan on Jeep number BC 1248 when they were
stopped by Dadar Police who discovered 180 kilos of HASH worth
millions of from the secret compartments of the jeep.

Police has registered a case number 13/2004 report against deputy
chief of MQM and his wife for drug trafficking. Area in charge SHO of
the area Police confirmed that suspects have confessed they have been
also involved in arms trafficking from Kabul and been to Afghanistan
three times. Both were sent to SIBI jail in Baluchistan.

“MQM has been funded with the drug money apart from the money taken
from the top businessmen in the name of support” according to a report
published by The Frontier Post on December 25, 1998. The report says,
“… What is more alarming is that the narco dollars have been used for
funding the (MQM), a responsible source in the provincial government
said. He added that such funding was tantamount to fuelling
terrorism.” Is the Narco-terror funding still on?

U.S. Planning To Partition Pakistan By Press TV Reports Sunday, 5 April 2009.

U.S. Planning To Partition Pakistan

A poll by Iran’s Press TV suggests Pakistan’s political turmoil has been orchestrated by the US in an attempt to partition the nuclear-armed country. Also see Codename Operation Enduring Turmoil posted below.

By Press TV Reports Sunday, 5 April 2009.

President Asif Ali Zardari is a U.S. ally and a key player in efforts against al-Qaeda and Taliban militants. TEHRAN, Iran—Pakistan plunged into political turmoil in January when the Supreme Court disqualified opposition leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif along with his brother Shahbaz Sharif from elected office.

The crisis was intensified after a power struggle between the opposition group and President Asif Ali Zardari, a U.S. ally and a key player in efforts against al-Qaeda and Taliban militants, damaged the standing of the Pakistani government.

The opinion poll conducted by the Press TV website found that an overwhelming 63 percent of some 3,807 participants believe the “tension is an American scenario to partition Pakistan.”

The new U.S. administration, on various occasions, has expressed concern over the future of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal.

A mere eighteen percent of the participants said the crisis stems from a power struggle between Pakistani politicians.
Another 18 percent said the turmoil was the result of ‘al-Qaeda and Taliban influence over certain Pakistani politicians.
According to US intelligence and top ranking US military officials, Pakistan’s powerful intelligence agency is abetting al-Qaeda militants.

Codename Operation Enduring Turmoil

Operation Enduring Turmoil is the Neocons plan to disassemble Pakistan, give northern Pakistan to Afghanistan, Southwest Pakistan to the Balochs… all this in an effort to restrict Chinese access to energy and herd energy resources towards Israel, the Mediterranean and Europe. Whatever happening in NWFP and Baluchistan is part of this BIG game. Click on the title to read this eye-opening report.

US Army Suicide Rate Reaches Record High

The U.S. Army said the number of soldiers who committed suicide last year has increased for a fourth straight year. Army officials said despite an increase in funding for programs to help soldiers, they are having a hard time fighting the stigma attached to seeking professional help. At least 128 soldiers committed suicide in 2008, an increase from 2007 when a total of 115 suicides were recorded among active duty and those in the Army Reserve and National Guard. Officials said the number may go even higher pending the examination of 15 additional cases that could be self-inflicted.
Highest Suicide Rate Since Vietnam War
This is the first time since the Vietnam War that the rate of suicide in the Army, about 20 deaths per 100,000 soldiers, has surpassed the civilian suicide rate. "Why do the numbers keep going up? We cannot tell you. But we can tell you that across the Army, we're committed to doing everything we can to address the problem," promised Secretary of the Army Pete Geren.Geren and other Army officials Thursday announced a handful of prevention programs that will either be introduced or enhanced. One such initiative will be a day-long "stand-down" in which all active duty soldiers will receive suicide prevention education, with an emphasis on escorting someone who might be in trouble to seek help.
Military-Civilian Partnership to Combat Suicide
The Army is also entering into an unprecedented five-year, $50 million partnership with the National Institute of Mental Health, in an effort to better understand what causes soldiers to commit suicide.
Colonel Elspeth Ritchie, a psychiatrist in the Army Surgeon General's office, said while the army is hiring and training more medical workers, more involvement is needed."We do need the help of the American public. Many of these suicides happen when somebody is on leave or away from their unit. As I've said before, this really has to be a national effort, where everyone is reaching out to soldiers and their families to recognize there is a difficulty," she said.Colonel Ritchie said problems within family or marital relationships back at home were significant factors leading to suicides, but she noted that legal, financial and occupational difficulties contributed as well.
Younger Soldiers More Vulnerable
Timothy Schulz has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and knew two fellow soldiers who took their lives. He said the strain is particularly difficult on younger recruits."They feel more, I'd say, trapped than the older people. The older people have a little more experience and they say, "Okay, you know this is going to be over at some point." Whereas the younger guys, they just get into the army and they start to go through these experiences and they kind of get that sense of hopelessness," he explained. He said one soldier he worked with shot himself soon after his unit arrived in Afghanistan."He was having difficulties with his relationships at home, and now we had almost just gotten to Afghanistan, and it's a pretty new experience. He's up at night; he's in the guard tower, and whatever else. And he had too much. It was too much for him," he said. The Army found about 35 percent of suicides came after soldiers returned home from deployment, while another 35 percent of suicides occurred among soldiers with no history of deployment. 30 percent occurred while soldiers were in the field.
Seeking Help
One of the key issues the Army has been trying to address is the feeling among many soldiers that seeking psychological help is a sign of weakness and could be harmful to a career.General John Hawkins, deputy chief of staff for personnel, said the Army is committed to overcoming the stigma attached to seeking professional help."This is not a practice that resonates with what we are about in the United States Army, and some of the methods that we're going to use to get at this will leverage the warrior ethos - and the way we treat ourselves and our fellow soldiers throughout the Army," he said.Officials acknowledged there is no quick fix, but said more will be done to help the troops deal with the additional stresses that have developed in an age of persistent conflict.

On Arab TV Network, Obama Urges Dialogue

PARIS — In an interview broadcast Tuesday on one of the Middle East’s major news channels, President Obama struck a conciliatory tone toward the Islamic world, saying he wanted to persuade Muslims that “the Americans are not your enemy.” He also said the moment was ripe for negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.
The interview with Al Arabiya, an Arabic-language channel based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, signaled a shift — in style and manner, at least — from the Bush administration, with Mr. Obama offering what he depicted as a new readiness to listen rather than to dictate.
It was Mr. Obama’s first televised interview from the White House and the first with any foreign news outlet.
In the interview, which was taped on Monday night and broadcast throughout the Muslim world on Tuesday, Mr. Obama said it was his job “to communicate to the Muslim world that the Americans are not your enemy.”
He added that “we sometimes make mistakes,” but said that America was not born as a colonial power and that he hoped for a restoration of “the same respect and partnership that America had with the Muslim world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago.”
Mr. Obama spoke as his special Middle East envoy, George J. Mitchell, arrived in Egypt to begin an eight-day tour that will include stops in Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, France and Britain. In Egypt, Mr. Mitchell planned to meet President Hosni Mubarak.
Mr. Obama spoke, too, about Iran. He criticized Iranian leaders for acting in ways that “are not conducive to peace and prosperity in the region,” including their suspected pursuit of a nuclear weapon, threats against Israel and “their support of terrorist organizations in the past.”
But he said that it was important to be willing to talk to the Iranians, both to express differences and explore “where there are potential avenues for progress.” He was not asked if he would continue President Bush’s policy of refusing to exclude military action in the dispute over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Initial reactions to the interview across the Middle East seemed positive. In Lebanon, some people who saw it said they thought that it marked a startling break from the rhetoric of previous American administrations.
“It’s different from what we’ve seen in forever,” said Jamil Mroue, a Lebanese journalist and publisher. “This is his first official interview, and it’s addressed to Al Arabiya? It’s a logical extension of his inauguration speech, but it’s unprecedented.”
There was also, however, a reluctance to judge Mr. Obama on his words alone. “Let’s see your promise, American president, for an independent Palestinian state,” said a commenter on Al Arabiya’s Web site, identified only as Alsomary. “And let’s see your promise for peace with the world, and especially the Islamic world. Then for sure we will learn to love America through your actions.”
In discussing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Mr. Obama told Hisham Melhem, Al Arabiya’s Washington bureau chief, that “the most important thing is for the United States to get engaged right away.” He said he told Mr. Mitchell to “start by listening, because all too often the United States starts by dictating.”
“Ultimately, we cannot tell either the Israelis or the Palestinians what’s best for them,” Mr. Obama said. “They’re going to have to make some decisions. But I do believe that the moment is ripe for both sides to realize that the path that they are on is not going to result in prosperity and security for their people. And that, instead, it’s time to return to the negotiating table.”
Mr. Obama said Israel “will not stop being a strong ally of the United States, and I will continue to believe that Israel’s security is paramount.”
“But I also believe that there are Israelis who recognize that it is important to achieve peace,” he added. “They will be willing to make sacrifices if the time is appropriate and if there is serious partnership on the other side.”
He also said that although he would not offer a time frame, he believed that it was “possible for us to see a Palestinian state.” He described such a state as one “that allows freedom of movement for its people, that allows for trade with other countries, that allows the creation of businesses and commerce so that people have a better life.”
But he also said the Israeli-Palestinian conflict should not be seen in isolation. “I do think it is impossible for us to think only in terms of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and not think in terms of what’s happening with Syria or Iran or Lebanon or Afghanistan and Pakistan,” Mr. Obama said.

US to ensure Afghanistan doesn’t destabilise Pakistan: Obama

WASHINGTON: The United States wants to make sure Afghanistan does not become a safe haven for Al Qaeda and does not destabilise its neighbour Pakistan, US President Barack Obama said.In an interview with NBC News, he said his administration would have clear objectives in Afghanistan and wanted to fix the drift that occurred there over the last two years. “We are not going to be able to rebuild Afghanistan into a Jeffersonian democracy,” Obama said.“What we can do is make sure that Afghanistan is not a safe haven for Al Qaeda. What we can do is make sure that it is not destabilising neighbouring Pakistan,” he told NBC.Obama also said he feared the detainees freed from Guantanamo would resume attacks on the United States. “Can we guarantee that they’re not going to try to participate in another attack? No,” Obama said.

Political Crisis in Pakistan

After passage of sixty years, pakistan could not get satisfactory development in the sphere of political, judicial and economic matters and the situation has gone from bad to worst. The current scenario does not reflect the dream of our Quaid of a progressive and vibrant pakistan which could only be possible by following his principles of unity, faith and discipline. Today, we have a lot of personal differences among us and we have entirely forgotten the main objective of Pakistan for which thousands of Muslims had sacrificed their lives, valuables and dignity.
Critical conditions can be reviewed from different aspects which are still turbulent. Currently we are facing tremendous political crisis in Pakistan. There is lack of harmony between the Government and the Political parties. Opposition parties always try to create hurdles on the way of Government whenever a new bill is presented or a budget has to be passed. In fact our political parties only think about their power and domination. They always make credulour people a scape goat. The ferocious behavious of some political parties can be seen through the violation in Karachi, where about 50 innocents were killed for their personal conflict. In this violence a key ally of ruling party, which is considered to be involved in spreading the atrocity for more than two decades, played an extremely fanatic role which has been strongly condemned by Pakistan as well as international community.
These sorts of rubbish acts create adverse effects on the economy, especially on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and tourism industry in Pakistan, because investors and tourists feel unsecured owing to worst law and order situation. In all of this regard, our controversial bodies provide full opportunities to our external enemies to take advantage of this and ruin the peaceful environment of this country.
According to some analysts, pure democracy does not exist in Pakistan because they consider it a "Government of an Autocrat". Pure democracy only exists where decisions are taken by mutual consent of the leaders, but the situation is entirely opposite in Pakistan.
When we recall the history of Pakistan, we observe much interruption of army in the democratic process which is definitely a major cause of political disturbance. Some newspapers have expressed this situation as "Materialization of hell on earth".
The image of Pakistan in international society has been badly damaged due to the irresponsible behaviour of our politicians.
Our Politicians must strive to combat poverty, atrocity and communal differences which are considered to be the the fundamental hurdles in the way of progress and they should unite at a single platform to perform their individual duties for the common interest of the people to promote the image of the country. There should not be any interference by the army in democratic process except in critical conditions. Only then we can realize the dream of a happy and prosperous Pakistan.

Mumbai Incident

The escalating tensions between India and Pakistan over the Mumbai attacks have led to the declaration of hostilities in unexpected quarters – Pakistani media has declared a virtual war on Indian media for its “knee-jerk” finger-pointing across the border, and its unquestioning acceptance of the Indian government’s “Pakistan-link” theory. Most Pakistanis are angry and upset about the Indian allegations, which they believe are “unsubstantiated”. Even the Indian government, whose highest officials have made the allegation in unambiguous terms, have not come in for as much flak as the messenger, the assumption being that governments will say what they have to, but it is the duty of the media to question. Leading the charge against the India media are the Pakistani television channels, with panel discussions shows devoted exclusively to the coverage of the Mumbai attacks by the Indian media. Even on talk shows about the impact of the attacks on the relations between the two countries, among the first questions that anchors are shooting off are: “Do you think the India media should have pointed a finger at Pakistan within such a short time, and without any evidence? Why do we see this knee-jerk response every time some terrorist incident takes place in India?”Overshadowed One of the big successes of the peace process since 2004 was the greater understanding and camaraderie between the media of the two countries, thanks to frequent interactions. But the smoke and gunfire of Mumbai has overshadowed even that.Top Pakistani journalists are asking why the Indian media, more specifically the electronic media, have been so willing to accept the government theory that the attackers came from Pakistan. Top Pakistani journalists are asking why the Indian media, more specifically the electronic media, have been so willing to accept the government theory that the attackers came from Pakistan. They are dismissive of reports in the Indian press that the terrorists had links with Lashkar-e-Taiba, or that they landed in Mumbai in a boat from Karachi. Instead, they are asking why these reports are not demanding the government for evidence of these allegations.“Too nationalistic” On Dawn News, three top guns of the Pakistani media – anchors Hamid Mir, Talat Hussain and Nasim Zehra – dissected the coverage in an hour-long programme that was aired both on Saturday and Sunday. Their scathing conclusion – Indian media are “too nationalistic”, “smug”, they told “lies” or at best “half-truths”, “did not ask questions”, resorted to “clichés” and have perfected the art of projecting Pakistan as the enemy.A similar programme aired on Geo TV on Sunday. The feeling is widespread in the Pakistan journalistic community that the Indian media are responsible for the current tensions between the two countries and for pushing the Indian government to take on its neighbour even if it means launching a military strike. The India media have been accused of not even looking at other possibilities, such as the involvement of an Indian group in the attacks. The new evidence in the Samjhauta Express firebombings pointing a finger at a Hindutva militant group has come up repeatedly as one reason why the Indian media should have been less “hasty” in arriving at its conclusions. On the whole, Pakistanis — as evident from public phone-ins to talk shows — are even questioning if the entire ghastly episode was not all engineered by Indian intelligence agencies working in connivance with the U.S. to “defame” Pakistan with the intention of dismembering it. “[The] Indian media is overcommitted to projecting India as a success story. They are not used to reporting state failures. They are used to reporting India as a country where nothing bad happens, its Army as the best thing in the world. It projects its heroes as supermen, taller than the Himlayas…So the gap between what the Indian media are committed to reporting, and the crass state failure they had to do report [in Mumbai], they ended up filling it with lies,” Mr. Hussain, a top-rated anchor with Aaj TV, told Dawn News. On the same programme, Mr. Mir, who anchors Geo’s flagship show Capital Talk, asked why the Indian media were not asking hard questions of the Indian government.“When Pakistani forces say they have killed five Al-Qaeda, when they say Rashid Rauf has been killed in a drone attack, Pakistani media are asking them questions — show us the bodies. But Indian media are not asking important questions. “There are 500 nautical miles between Karachi and Gujarat, and the Indian media are saying the terrorists came in boats from Karachi. Why are they not questioning the failure of their intelligence agencies?” Mr. Mir said the Indian media had to take responsibility of the sharp downslide in the relations between the two countries. At a press conference, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi too accused the Indian media of “irresponsible” conduct. Giving himself credit for having stayed on in India for three days after the Mumbai incidents began, he said he had “engaged with their political leadership, engaged their intelligentsia, faced their media,” to explain Pakistan’s point of view. In response to his appeal for “national unity” and his declaration that the country must “hope for the best and plan for the worst”, at least one Punjabi television channel started playing national songs from the 1965 and 1971 wars, including Noorjehan’s famous song dedicated to soldiers, “Merey watan key sajheeley jawanon”.

The Bastion Of ISLAM

Pakistan came into being on 14th August 1947 in the name of ISLAM. But unfortunately a person can hardly find islamic touch in the policies of Pakistani Government. In the garb of democracy, either Autocracy, Theocracy or Dictatorship is demaging the image of Pakistan. Now the Unipolar Political Power namely United States of America is having a great illusion that it can dominate the whole world. USA and Israel are allies and their main target is to dominate the muslims and to destroy Islam (nauzubillah), it is because they are afraid of Muslims, as Muslims have the potential to Dominate the whole world as they did and ruled the world for 1400 years. USA is actually very timid they first make their target weak and then attack. The war between IRAQ and IRAN is one of the best example. That war made IRAQ weaker than before, then USA blamed IRAQ by saying that IRAQ has the weapon of mass destruction and attacked on IRAQ. The Great Dramatic incident of 9/11 was fabricated by United States of America. She blamed another muslim Country 'Afghanistan' to be involved in that incident which was a lame excuse to attack Afghanistan. USA is doing all that for her regional interests and also to capture the oil reserves of the whole world.

A cold war is running against Pakistan to spoil the Muslims of Pakistan which had harmed the Muslims a lot but as Islam is favourite the religion of Allah and Muslims are loved by Allah, no one can harm ISLAM. America is now planning to destroy Pakistan by provoking India to fight with Pakistan and when both countries will become weak, she will at once attack on the subcontinent with his allies. But this dream of USA is her illusion. Muslims have never been dominated by anyone ever & will never be dominated by anyone in future (Inshallah). Blasphemy Our Holy Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) is the worst deed done by the non-Muslims (May Allah Punish them all involved in this activity) and we Muslims can not tolerate such activities. Our Government should take some bold steps and punish them. Government should declare Jihad so that all the muslim countries may unite and fight against the enemies of ISLAM.

Jihad is one of the pillars of ISLAM. Pakistani Forces are rich with passion, enthusiasm and Jazba-e-Jihad and they are keen towards their mission to protect their country uptil death. Muslims do not fear death and those who do not fear death are considered to be the most powerful. Pakistanis not only depend on their defence forces, every Pakistani is keen to kick those who interfere the progress of their country.
